Al-Burhan affirms the commitment and keenness of the Sudanese Armed Forces to protect the transitional period

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, stressed the commitment and keenness of the armed forces to protect the transitional period and the democratic transformation in Sudan from any obstacle during this period.


Al-Burhan, during his meeting today, Thursday, with an American delegation headed by Jeffrey Feltman, the US special envoy for the Horn of Africa, praised the advanced bilateral relations between Sudan and the United States of America and its continuous support for the political transition process in Sudan.


He expressed his hope for continued US support for the transitional government, stressing the importance of involving political forces that believe in democratic transformation in the political process in the transitional period, leading to free and fair elections that bring a civilian government that represents all the Sudanese people.


For his part, the US envoy praised the great efforts that the military component has been making to protect the political transition in Sudan and the work it has done to thwart the recent coup attempt.


He stressed that the United States will continue its support for the transitional government and the Sudanese people until free and fair elections are reached and the civilian government is formed that the Sudanese people are satisfied with.


The two sides stressed the importance of cooperation between the civilian and military components at this stage and the participation of the political forces that contributed to the process of political transition in Sudan.
