Thwarting a new attempt to target the energy towers in Iraq with an explosive device

Today, Friday, the State Security Media Cell in Iraq announced that it had thwarted a new attempt to blow up an electricity pole on the island of Tikrit in Salah al-Din Governorate, according to Russia Today.

And she wrote in a press statement: "According to accurate intelligence and field follow-up, the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency in the Ministry of Interior was able to thwart an attempt to detonate a belt and an explosive device placed on one of the poles carrying electric power in the village of Jawza on Tikrit Island in Salah al-Din Governorate."

She added: "The explosives and the belt were dismantled by the experts of the Anti-Explosives Directorate."

Recently, power lines in Iraq have been targeted, which led to power cuts in some areas, and the terrorist organization "ISIS" is usually accused of these attacks.
