How did the trade balance deficit decrease by 25.2% last March?


The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics announced foreign trade data for March 2021, where the trade balance deficit recorded 2.69 billion dollars during the month of March, compared to 3.59 billion dollars in the same month of the previous year, a decline of 25.2%.



The Statistics Authority published, in the infographic, the most important indicators, as the value of exports increased by 43.5%, reaching $3.41 billion during the month of March, compared to $2.38 billion in the same month of the previous year, due to the increase in the value of exports of some commodities, the most important of which are "medicines and pharmaceutical preparations by 54.2%, ready-made garments 49.3%, pasta and various food preparations 18.4%, potatoes 1.1%.



On the other hand, the value of imports increased by 2.2%, reaching 6.10 billion dollars during last March, compared to 5.97 billion dollars in the same month of the previous year, due to the increase in the value of imports of some commodities, the most important of which are “petroleum products by 92.5%, and passenger cars by 73.9%.” , medicines and pharmaceutical preparations by 9.7%”, while the value of imports of some commodities decreased during the month of March, compared to the same month of the previous year, the most important of which were “wheat by 48.5%, raw materials of iron or steel by 25.9%, crude oil by 20.8%, Meat by 7.4%.
