4: Raise and lower your heels while keeping your toes on the floor.

6: If you smoke, stop smoking, keep your weight low and drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated can reduce your risk of developing blood clots.

7: Taking birth control pills increases your risk of DVT, which means it may not be the right choice if you have another risk factor.

8: If you have an injury or are going to have surgery, talk to your doctor about preventing DVT.
