Iraq: Our position on the Palestinian issue is clear

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said, "The Iraqi position on the Palestinian issue is clear, and we believe in the right of self-determination for the Palestinian people."

Hussein added - during a joint press conference with his Palestinian counterpart Riyad al-Maliki from Baghdad - that there is partisan support for the Palestinian cause because it is a political, emotional and humanitarian issue. There is also clear governmental support by the federal government and the government of Iraq for the Palestinian cause, in addition to a state of solidarity between the Iraqi people and the Palestinian people.

He continued: "During the talks with his Palestinian counterpart, there was an emphasis on the unity of work and the Palestinian ranks, and a clear dialogue between the Palestinians to reach the formation of a national unity government and a unified position and to strengthen the Palestinian Authority because it represents international legitimacy. Work on the Arab and Islamic level. "

He pointed out that the Palestinian Foreign Minister, Riyad Al-Maliki, met during his visit to Iraq with the President of the Republic, Barham Salih, and Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, and he will meet with Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi.

On the joint work between the two countries, Hussein said, "The first meeting between the two countries will be closely related to the Palestinian-Iraqi Joint Committee in Ramallah."
