An urgent meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization next Thursday to discuss the Belarus incident


The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) announced that the President of the International Civil Aviation Organization Council, Salvatore Schakitano, called for an urgent meeting of the 36 diplomatic representatives on the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization, Thursday, May 27, regarding the accident related to flight in the airspace of Belarus.


ICAO expressed grave concern over the apparent forced landing of Ryan Airlines and its passengers, and it looked forward to formal confirmation of more information by states and stakeholders.


The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, had expressed grave concern about the apparent forced landing of a passenger plane over Belarus, and the subsequent detention of Roman Protasevic, a Belarusian journalist who was on board the plane, and urged all relevant actors to "cooperate with this investigation."
