The Commercial Office in Jordan: Rising shipping costs from China are an opportunity to increase furniture exports

Mona Abboud, head of the Egyptian Commercial Office in Jordan, revealed that Egypt has a competitive and currently exporting advantage for the furniture sector to the Jordanian market, with high shipping fees from China, noting that the geographical proximity between Egypt and Jordan and ease of transportation could create an increase in Egyptian furniture exports to the Jordanian market. .

She pointed out that the furniture sector and the size of the furniture market in Jordan reached 11 thousand establishments during the last stage, and there are establishments that left the market due to Corona, and the sector employs more than 5 thousand workers or more, according to the available figures.

She added during an electronic seminar of the Furniture Export Council that the most important sources of importing furniture to Jordan are the countries of China, Italy and Turkey, due to the continuous exhibitions and bilateral meetings, the diversity of models and the possibility of shipping more than one model for one container with the quality of "Finish" and ease of payment.

And she continued, that the Jordanian consumer accepts to buy classic and modern furniture, especially the youth group, accepting wooden industries and modern and modern furniture, noting that the average per capita income in Jordan is 4 thousand dollars annually, and with the circumstances of Corona, marriage retreated, and then the furniture sector was affected.
