Syrian Foreign Ministry: Damascus is determined to put an end to the phenomenon of foreign terrorists

Al-Jaafari called in a speech today during a conference organized by the European Center for Extremism Studies of the University of Cambridge and published by the electronic newspaper Al-Thawra, for uniting efforts to fight terrorism in coordination and full cooperation with the Syrian government and in light of the relevant Security Council resolutions without violating the Syrian sovereignty .. explaining that the problem is addressed. Humanity in Syria is achieved through the lifting of the coercive economic sanctions imposed on the Syrian people. The insistence of some governments not to comply with Security Council resolutions by refusing to return terrorists and their families to their countries reveals the depth of their hypocrisy.


Al-Jaafari said that some countries these days commemorate what they call the “tenth anniversary of the Syrian conflict.” Last Thursday, the European Union adopted a resolution making Europe part of the problem and not part of the solution .. The decision is biased and unrealistic and is biased against the Syrian government in flagrant violation of the provisions of the United Nations Charter. He added that since the beginning, in 2011, some countries were involved in the crisis in Syria .. they used to send and support tens of thousands of terrorists who target the Syrian state and its people .. The threat of these terrorists is no longer limited to Syria, but now threatens all countries of the world, including Europe itself. .


Al-Jaafari explained that the United Nations system concerned with combating terrorism has persistently ignored the reality of the terrorist war that Syria has been subjected to since 2011, and said that these unbalanced practices continued as a result of the practices of political and financial polarization followed by the United States, the United Kingdom, "Britain", Germany and France .. Those European governments were Its membership in the Security Council is being negatively exploited against Syria to the fullest extent .. Their aim was to distort the facts, provide political and media coverage to armed terrorist organizations and prevent the Security Council from including those organizations, in addition to hundreds of foreign terrorists, on the list of terrorist entities and individuals.


Al-Jaafari added that with the beginning of 2014, the threat of terrorism had spread widely in Syria and Iraq and indications began to show that the threats of terrorism would not stop within the borders of these two countries ... With the expansion of the phenomenon of foreign terrorist fighters greatly threatening international peace and security, international public opinion began, specifically in the countries of the Union. The European Union raised serious questions about the role of the governments of those countries and their involvement in turning a blind eye to the travel of thousands of hundreds of extremists from the European Union to Syria and Iraq with the aim of joining terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda, ISIS and the Al-Nusra Front.


Al-Jaafari called for uniting efforts to fight terrorism in coordination and full cooperation with the Syrian government and in light of the relevant Security Council resolutions and without violating the Syrian sovereignty. Al-Jaafari concluded his speech by saying: The humanitarian problem will not be addressed through distributing aid or accusing the Syrian government of not cooperating, but on the contrary, by lifting the coercive economic sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.
