Australian scientists have found a mechanism to speed up tracking of preclinical tests

A team of Australian scientists has developed a new mechanism capable of fast tracking to synthesize safe vaccines, which is an approach that can be used to test vaccine strategies against epidemic pathogens such as the emerging "Corona" virus (Covid-19).

The team demonstrated the application of this method with a new vaccine for use against tuberculosis (TB), which generated a strong protective immune response in mice.

According to a study published in the "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences", scientists are keen to develop a vaccine strategy further to help the rapid preclinical testing of new vaccines, especially for respiratory diseases.

"The challenge is to make sure that our immune system cells recognize the protein and adjuvants simultaneously ... To overcome this difficulty, we have developed, for the first time, a new mechanism for protein synthesis with an adjuvant attached to it as a single molecule," said Anlesi Shahrast, a professor at the University of Sydney. .

Scientists from the University of Sydney Medical School confirmed that the vaccine strategy and synthetic technology can be deployed to quickly generate new vaccines for preclinical testing for a range of diseases, including respiratory pathogens that cause infection with the emerging "Corona" virus.

In order for the vaccines to be effective, the scientists explained that they need what is called "behavior stimulation" in the protective T cells that allow them to recognize the pathogen, or the foreign body .. In the case of tuberculosis, the immune system needs a rapid response to the bacteria that cause tuberculosis. Caused by infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria - to reduce infection in the lungs.

The scientists revealed that the main obstacle they had overcome was the difficulty of combining the hydrophobic catalyst with the water-soluble protein.
